Giuseppe Quintarelli is the benchmark estate of Valpolicella, run by the Quintarelli family from the hills above Negrar and known for its handwritten labels and patient, long-aged wines.
The Valpolicella Classico Superiore is made from Corvina, Corvinone and Rondinella. Half the grapes are pressed after harvest and half are dried for two months; the wine is later racked onto the lees of the estate's Amarone for a second fermentation (ripasso), then aged for seven years in large Slavonian oak barrels.
Benchmark Valpolicella for braised meats, game or aged cheeses.
