Superb Bourogne Rouge!
"The 2022 Bourgogne Pinot Noir Vieilles Vignes, which is raised in around 25% new oak and two-thirds whole cluster, was bottled just before harvest as they needed some barrels. It has an attractive bouquet with brambly red fruit and light sous-bois aromas. The palate is medium bodied with fine tannins, very cohesive with a slightly creamy texture towards the sweet, slightly lactic finish. Very more-ish and a fine regional Burgundy". 88-90 points, Neal Martin, Vinous
The Labet family is one of Burgundy’s quietly outstanding winemaking families. Based in Beaune, the estate centres on Domaine Pierre Labet and the historic Château de La Tour, the largest landholder within Clos de Vougeot. For decades the domaine was led by François Labet, who elevated the reputation of both estates through meticulous vineyard work and traditional Burgundian winemaking.
Today, the next generation is taking the lead, with Édouard Labet now increasingly running the estate and guiding its future direction. Farming is sustainable and the winemaking approach is deliberately low-intervention, allowing each vineyard site to speak clearly. The resulting Pinot Noir and Chardonnay are refined, structured Burgundies prized for their purity, balance and sense of place.
