Roger and Christine Saumaize farm their vines around Vergisson, beneath the great limestone rocks of the Mâconnais. La Maréchaude is one of their steepest sites, so steep it has to be worked by hand, and it is now classified among Pouilly-Fuissé's Premier Crus.
The 2023 is a little more exotic than the domaine's other cuvées, with apricot, citrus and a gentle herbal, chamomile note. The palate is fresh and crisp, with nectarine and stone fruit, a light nutty touch from the oak and a fine mineral tension through the finish.
A Mâconnais Premier Cru that punches well above its price. Try it with roast chicken, pork or creamy pasta.
