By Farr is the Farr family estate at Bannockburn in Geelong's Moorabool Valley, founded by Gary Farr and now led by his son Nick. Tout Près, French for "very cosy", was planted in 2001 at 7,300 vines per hectare, the most densely planted site on the estate. Each of its three slopes has a different soil: black volcanic soil over limestone, quartz gravel with red ironstone, and grey sandy loam.

It is fermented with whole bunches in a five-tonne oak fermenter and raised in new Allier oak, the most powerful and structured of the By Farr Pinots. Expect spicy fruit, minerality, plum and undergrowth, with an edgy acidity and real capacity to age.
